Troubled by the financial difficulties of their peers that extend beyond tuition, student business organizations at the West campus of ASU decided to take matters into their own hands. Alpha Kappa Psi, the American Marketing Association, and Delta Epsilon Chi collaboratively formed the Triunity of Professional Students (TOPS), whose sole purpose is to raise funds for a crisis fund for West business students and decrease the number of students dropping out of school.
Like the Emergency Crisis Fund that the Parents Association supports, this crisis fund grants money to students in dire and unexpected financial need, so that their education doesn’t have to suffer.
TOPS recently held their first fundraiser, Project Relief: Entering the Market with Style and Grace, that offered business students an opportunity to learn proper business dinner meeting etiquette during a three-course meal and business fashion “dos and don’ts” while donating to a good cause.
The organizers were not only able to raise $1,250 in donations; they exercised the knowledge they were learning as students in the School of Global Management and Leadership. Because of the publicity and impact of this event, many students have begun to see that they don’t just go to school at ASU, they make a difference as well.
